Secret Boards on Pinterest

Shhhh!  It’s Secret!

Secret Boards – have you heard of them?  We were so happy when Pinterest gifted us with Secret Boards.  Initially, they only gave us 3 to use.  Around Christmas 2013, they gifted us with 3 more, and then earlier this month, they’ve given us unlimited!  Yay!

They’re great for when you have something to pin, but you don’t necessarily need everyone being able to view them in your profile.

Here are some great reasons to use a Secret Board:

·         Planning a Surprise Party

·          Planning your Wedding (you don’t need the groom and guests seeing your dress and

knowing all your details ahead of time)

·          Birthday/Gift Ideas

Surprise Parties - retirement, birthday, graduation, anniversary, etc.

·          Home Renovation/Remodel Inspiration

·          Personal Goals

·          Business Articles – these can bore some of your followers to tears, and we don’t want

                prospects or followers crying.

·          Mood boards

·          Inspiration Boards for Special Projects still underwraps!

Although there are plenty of people who “put it all out there”, not all of us want to see everything.  I swear when I see someone planning a move, or they’re giving their home a renovation, I don’t need to see 70 “foyer” images, and 100 “bathroom” images, and 50 “bedroom” images all in the same day.  That’s a great way to get unfollowed, in my book!

So what if you and a couple of your friends are planning a surprise party?  Well you have the option of saying who is allowed to pin to the board.  As long as you’re all following each other, each person can contribute.  When you “create” the new board, you’re asked, “who can pin?” Type in your friend’s name, and “invite” your friend.  The friend will need to accept the invitation, and then you BOTH share the secret board, and no one else is the wiser!

What are ways  you use secret boards?
